Kieler Woche – THE maritime event of the year

Kieler Woche (Kiel Week) is one of the biggest sailing events in the world and is also one of the most popular summer festivals in Northern Europe. Attracting an international audience for more than 130 years, Kieler Woche welcomes millions of visitors to the Kiel Fjord for this annual sailing spectacular. Over 3.5 million guests descended upon the Northern German town last year to experience the event.

Originally starting as a simple regatta in 1882, it now offers sailing competitions in a wide variety of boat classes. Around 3500 participants from over 50 countries compete here - from Olympic classes to classic boats.
In addition, visitors can expect a varied supporting programme: concerts, cultural events and the International Market with culinary specialities provide entertainment and variety. Hands-on activities and workshops round off the programme.

Kieler Woche combines top sporting performances, maritime tradition and cultural diversity - an experience for the whole family.

The largest sailing event in the world invites you

Kieler Woche is much more than just an event for water sports enthusiasts - it’s a celebration of diversity, sport and cross-cultural encounters. Under the motto "Kiel Week - there's no other week like this", more than 3,500,000 visitors are expected to join the festivities in the town on the Kiel Fjord during the time from 21.06. to 29.06.2025. And they can look forward to numerous events centred around boating and sailing.
Every year, around 3500 sailors* from over 50 nations take part in the competitions, which are held in national and international boat classes as well as in the ten Olympic classes. The regattas take place mainly at the Schilksee Olympic Centre, while a varied supporting programme is offered along the Kiellinie and in the city centre. Visitors can look forward to more than 2000 events, cultural performances and the international market with culinary specialities from all over the world and numerous hands-on activities.
