The use of petrol and diesel engines on Lake Starnberg is extermely limited. This prompted the managing directors of Torqeedo Germany, Dr. Christoph Ballin and Dr. Friedrich Böbel, to take a closer look at the topic of electric boat drives in 2004. The idea of an electric motor for use on Lake Starnberg gave rise to the Torqeedo brand.
