From today, you can now create a digital profile of your boat and share it with others. Select your model, configure and then place your accessories and equipment using the platform. Once finished, you can share your configuration in the Owner’s Club. Swap ideas with other owners, collect starfish and win prizes.
Since 1989, SVB has been there for boating and yachting enthusiasts looking for advice and guidance on selecting the right equipment for their needs and preferences. Since 2015, we have been an exclusive supplier of original Bavaria parts. Today, we`re going one step further: We´re working with you to build a platform that simplifies boating. Together, we´re making boating simpler and more accessible for everyone. And we’re opening up this solution to all shipyards, all models of boats and all engines.
Access your personal ‘Owner’s Club’ and connect with other owners of your model. Share your feedback, exchange tips, discover new ideas and upgrade your equipment.
As always when we have new ideas, it starts with silence in the office. One of those classic “crazy ideas”? Maybe. The silence was almost overwhelming — because this idea was too good to waste time.
Read my little “logbook entry” about the birth of MyBoat – Summer 2024, somewhere between the smell of coffee and nautical charts.
If an idea survives here, it becomes an official “ticket.” That’s our go signal for the SVB teams: IT, Design, Product Management. Kickoff, brainstorming, more ideas, first sketches.
And then it started:
252 workdays. 2000 boat models. 4000 drawings.
Originally, I just wanted to make two drawings: one for sailboats, one for motorboats. But after talking with my father and SVB founder Thomas Stamann, it was clear: That’s not enough.
„Every boat is different. Cleats, hatches, rollers – all in different places. Owner vs. charter model, different years – even those often differ in detail. If MyBoat is going to work, we need a drawing for each boat. And detailed! I want every turning block marked!“
So we got started.
Today, we’re launching with a full fleet of Bavaria models and over 50 additional boats in our own SVB design. More are being added every day. For all others, we start with our standard layouts.
But how do we turn it into a tool that’s actually fun?
Enter: our design team. Luckily, at SVB we do everything ourselves – from the first sketch to the last line of code. We don’t work with agencies. We develop. In-house. For real.
And Nicole – our designer – nailed it with her first draft. What’s going online today is almost exactly what she sketched on that first blank sheet of paper. Hats off!
I like to call our online shop “the only online shop in the world made JUST for water sports enthusiasts,”
a real tool for boaters. Every function, every click, every line of code is written by us to solve real problems
on board. Not on the couch (well, maybe sometimes), but in the engine room, in a lonely anchorage, or just before setting sail.
And that’s why our IT team absolutely delivered. One of our developers is a boat owner himself – and was immediately
on board. From Nicole’s sketches, interactive applications emerged in just a few weeks that are as smart as they look.
