Product details

Keeping your cooling system intact protects your motor from overheating during use. However, in the winter, the engine cooling system itself needs to be protected from frost, to prevent cracks and corrosion. In winter storage, there is no circulation of the cooling system and air can enter pipes and reach internal components on the engine, which are then susceptible to corrosion and oxidation. Protecting the engine with antifreeze is therefore extremely important. ANTIFREEZE provides effective protection against frost and also inhibits corrosion and rust.

Your engine and pipes are not the only components that are protected with ANTIFREEZE from Talamex over winter. It also protects your drinking water and grey water systems, as well as your on-board toilet. ANTIFREEZE protects copper pipes from bursting down to temperatures of -45 °C, PVC pipes to -25 °C. Does not corrode seals and hoses.

The plant-based antifreeze is biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

Properties
  • Frost protection for a range of uses (engine, lines, drinking water systems, grey water systems, on-board toilet, copper and PVC pipes)
  • Protection against corrosion and oxidation
  • Biodegradable
  • Compatible with all materials

How to use

Water systems
  1. Drain water completely. Make sure all hot and cold water taps are open. Use compressed air to clear if neccessary.
  2. Drain the hot water tank, leave the vent valve open after draining.
  3. Connect the inlet and outlet pipes of the hot water tank (e.g. with fittings or hose clamps).
  4. Add undiluted antifreeze to the system.
  5. Pressurise the system using water pump.
  6. Open all the taps, starting with the one furthest away, and let the antifreeze flow until visible. Then close the outlet opening.
  7. Make sure that the toilet and the cistern are completely empty (flush several times!).
  8. Ensure that the waste water system contains sufficient antifreeze.
  9. In spring, flush the entire system for at least half an hour until the red coloured water is clear and clean again.

Engine systems
  1. Drain the coolant (see the operating instructions for the engine).
  2. Fill the cooling system with the undiluted antifreeze.
  3. Drain antifreeze completely before starting the engine.

Technical question

Hello, Can this antifreeze be diluted (50/50 ratio resulting around -10C). I would guess yes, but the How to use manual point 4 says "Add undiluted antifreeze to the system." Is there a technical reason or just it is just sales b***ting? Most other products clearly define the right dilution ratio based on temperature... Thanks a lot.

WHALE

Hello, thanks for your request. It is just sales b***ting, NO kidding! But right, mixing this antifreeze isn't possible. Unlike conventional antifreeze for engines and windshield washer systems, such as ethylene glycol, Talamex drinking water antifreeze does not lower the freezing point of water. The chemical composition of this non-toxic antifreeze has a different density than water, causing the material to thicken into a gel-like consistency until it freezes at subzero temperatures, but with a much smaller increase in volume. This protects plastic pipes down to -25°C and copper pipes down to -45°C from bursting due to freezing.
