Product details

The CAMINO-108 series is the new generation of AIS-B transceivers. Optimised reception and transmission power in a compact housing with BSH and CE certification. The dual channel receiver allows monitoring of all AIS signals, such as Class A (commercial shipping), Class B, AtoN and SART. NMEA2000, NMEA0183 and USB ports can be used to connect to chartplotters and PC's.

Equipped with an internal splitter, the Camino-108S allows for the use of an existing FM antenna. This makes it particularly easy to retrofit the AIS transponder. Your radio is connected directly to the Camino instead of the FM antenna. The splitter ensures that devices always have sufficient transmission power.

Transponder with low power consumption and easy installation; AMEC warranty works well

I bought this transponder for convenient installation and low power consumption. It performs as advertised. Unfortunatly at the end of the first season it started to have an intermittent failure on switching between VHF and AIS mode. I mailed about this to the manufacturer or AMEC (alltekmarine.com) and they promptly offered a free replacement under warranty. This was executed dilligently by SVB. Email communication by svb could be improved, while email communication and service by the manufacturer was excellent.

Old technology

Transmitter receiver on sailing yacht, low energy consumption, easy installation, GPSNMEA 184 data looped to Ray49, OK In operation a single disaster, since the installation of the USB interface is a random product. Works now only on the equipped USB socket. After that everything was fine. The included AIS Viewer is useless since neither the filtering of the AIS targets is possible nor any alarm function is programmable. The promised function of a card slot is not installed. Only at 108 and 108W. See manufacturer. Not available on the 108S. Wrong description at the dealer.
