I am impressed by the many interesting technical possibilities After I got to grips with the German Engl. Manual and have used, tried and tested the handheld radio HX890E, I am very impressed by how many possibilities this device not only offers for radio, but also for navigation! The GPS receiver works precisely (if you should sit in a life raft with it, you can also give your exact position). COG, SOG and ALT are also displayed! Countless waypoints can be saved and controlled! With it you can navigate completely in an emergency! The radio transmission is clear, as is the reception. Important for use in the inland area in the HX890E you can save the ATIS number (and the DSC number for the sea) yourself! The buttons are easy to use. and changing settings (such as squelch strength) is very easy. It gave me a lot of pleasure to get to know the many possibilities that I cannot list here. The HX890E is not a slim device, but it still sits comfortably in the hand and has its place on the navigation table.

Top handheld device I really like the device. It is very robustly built and of high quality. So far I have only drained the battery within a day, even when using it at regattas (race management). Setting up the MMSI and ATIS with the up and down buttons is a bit fiddly and time-consuming, but only once. You have to read up on certain operations in the manual - I would deduct a point here - but after a short time getting used to how it works, it becomes automatic.

VHF handheld radio with integrated GPS receiver. A robust and ergonomic housing design and a 2.3" display ensure outstanding user comfort. Two integrated scrambler systems guarantee even safer communication on the water. With the built-in FM radio receiver, you can listen to your favourite FM radio stations at your leisure. The HX890E also features a day and night mode and a group monitor function with DSC group position tracking. Furthermore, the HX890E is waterproof (IPX8), floatable and with a long-life Li-Ion battery (1800 mAh), it will give you up to 11 hours of operating time. Colour: Black.

disappointing way of communication
serves to be able to use a second channel in relation to the permanently installed VHF. Communication with the locks and/or harbors on the English south coast took place on the built-in VHF, inter-ship communication (10 ships) on the portable radio. Since the voice quality was poor, we had to constantly change channels on the built-in VHF, since the handheld radio was hardly or not at all usable. Is this due to an error in the device or is the voice quality of the handheld radios always so bad. Experienced fellow passengers on the other boats could not help me either. I then stopped using the handheld radio

Is it possible to use channels L1, L2 and L3 in the Standard Horizion 890E VHF ?

Yes it does have those channels, you should configure the radio for the Sweden region and those channels will become visible.
