I just purchased that EPROPULSION Solar Panel for my new SPIRIT 1.0 PLUS/EVO electric outboard from SVB. I could not find the cable connecting the Solar panel to the SPIRIT 1.0 PLUS/EVO electric outboard battery from ePropulsion. I see the 2 individual 2.5 mm² cables with MC-4 connectors (Positive and negative) that come out from the solar panel. But, I cannot connect the solar panel to the battery to recharge. In other words, the solar panel is not usable. It would make sense if everything would be included in the package to make the ePropulsion solar panel charge the ePropulsion battery to complete the system. Thoughts?
A set would limit the usability of the set items on e-PROPULSION and it looks like you have either overlooked the recommended accessories in our product presentation or have not taken them into account. ---/--- We recommend using the ePROPULSION Solar Charger #31080#. It has a 65 cm long connection cable with MC-4 solar connectors so that you can connect the 1.4 m long module connection cable directly to the charge controller. If the resulting 2 m distance between the module and the charge controller is not enough for you, you could build a 5 or 10 m extension cable yourself. The module connection cables #22308# (5 m 2x2.5 mm²) or #25761# (10 m 2x 4 mm²) as well as 1x the MC-4 connector set #22345# are suitable for this**. Both module connecting cables are already equipped with MC-4 connectors on one side. All you then have to do is fit the open cable ends with the appropriate MC-4 connectors. Since you are making an extension cable, you also have to make sure that the appropriate mating connector must be mounted on each individual wire! You must install a “-” connector on the wire with the pre-assembled “+” plug and you must install a “+” connector on the wire with the already pre-assembled “-” plug. ---/--- **(Due to the extension cables, a voltage loss of ≤ 3% is possible at full module power. This is tolerable. For a lower voltage loss, you could use the next larger cable cross-section, but then you have to accept that the extension cable will be heavier and that it will lose flexibility.) ---/--- I hope this additional information has been helpful to you.
Thank you WP. for your answer. I will order the ePROPULSION Solar Charger 31080 to connect to my EPROPULSION Solar Panel. Another question: Can my EPROPULSION Solar Panel (with the additionally ordered ePROPULSION Solar Charger 31080) be connected to my SPIRIT 1.0 PLUS/EVO electric outboard when the battery is connected and running? Or do I need to take the battery off the engine and solar charge the battery when it is not in use?
