Powerful, flexible and compact: the WINCHRITE ABT electric winch handle
Imagine having a device that converts any conventional winch on board into an electric winch, without the inconvenience and expense of converting your old winch to an electric one. No such thing? Yes there is! The WINCHRITE ABT electric winch handle offers a convenient alternative eto manually operated and conventional electric winches on sailing boats. Featuring a lithium-ion battery and weighing around 3 kg, it is light and easy to use. An integrated electric motor provides impressive torque of over 110 Newton metres and up to 130 rpm, making it even easier to hoist halyards and sheets. In our electric winch handle test, we put the WINCHRITE, through its paces.
Quick and easy to pick up and use.
The electric winch handle is so simple. Just use it as you would a conventional manual handle by placing on the winch, then press the button and the integrated electric motor does all the muscle work for you. This makes life on board easier, but also quicker and more efficient. The WINCHRITE packs enough power to hoist or lower even larger and heavier sails with ease. Its power is comparable to a permanently installed electric winch, but without the space requirements or tricky wiring. The WINCHRITE ABT combines the advantages of a winch handle (flexibility) and an electric winch (convenience) in a single device.
Our electric winch handle test shows: The WINCHRITE is suitable for all standard 8-point winches and can be used for both left-hand and right-hand rotation. Being able to reverse the direction of rotation allows both gears of the winch to be utilised optimally. Another advantage of the WINCHRITE is its ergonomic and compact design. Thanks to its low weight and unbreakable plastic housing, it is robust and easy to handle. Even in harsh weather conditions, this electric handle can still be used as the housing is designed to protect the electronics from moisture and impact. This makes it an ideal choice for longer sailing trips where reliability and durability are crucial.
Tested and approved: What SVB customers say about the electric winch handle
5 stars from Marine P.
I cannot currently comment on this product as it is winter and I am waiting for the sailing season to begin.
5 stars from Thomas W.
We use this device to raise and lower our swing keel. It works perfectly. The price is very high, especially compared to, for example, a cordless drill with the same power output.

Just tested on a 43 foot boat and fully battened mainsail. No problem for the mainsail hoist.
Efficient and robust technology
In our electric winch handle test we took a closer look at the electric winch. The WINCHRITE is powered by a 21.6 V lithium-ion battery, which guarantees a long runtime and can be fully charged within an hour. The supplied charger is designed for different voltages (100-240 V AC and 12 V DC) so that the handle can be charged both on land and on board without any problems. A particularly practical feature is the variable speed control, which allows the speed to be regulated as required. When speed is of the essence, the WINCHRITE can be accelerated to up to 130 revolutions per minute, while a slow, powerful rotation can be selected for precise work or heavy loads. This makes the WINCHRITE an extremely versatile tool on board. The transport bag supplied not only ensures safe transport, but also practical storage. The WINCHRITE is also supplied with a mounting bracket so that it is always to hand on board. You can find more winch accessories in our product category of the same name.

The manufacturer's video clearly shows how much easier it is to use the WINCHRITE electric winch handle on board.
Summary: A practical and cost-effective alternative to manual handles and electric winches
Our electric winch handle test has shown that the WINCHRITE ABT not only reduces the physical effort of winching with a manual handle, but also the high costs associated with retrofitting a permanently installed electric winch. Because at less than 800 euros this electric winch handle is significantly lower in price than a permanently installed winch with an electric motor. What's more, the electric winch handle is versatile and can be used with any conventional winch. If you were to replace every conventional winch on board with an electric winch, this would quickly add up to a few thousand euros. In comparison, an electric winch handle only costs a fraction of the price. The mobile, electric winch handle therefore offers a flexible and mobile solution for anyone wishing to enjoy the convenience of an electric winch, but without the complex installation and high costs. The performance of the electric handle is impressive: with its high speed and powerful torque, it can handle the most demanding tasks with ease. The electric handle is therefore not only a valuable aid for experienced sailors, but also for beginners who want to execute sailing manoeuvres with less physical effort. Particularly on longer trips or for sailors who are often travelling alone, the electric winch handle makes life easier and significantly reduces physical exertion on board. In short: The WINCHRITE ABT has passed the electric winch handle test with flying colours. The electric handle is a mobile, convenient and powerful solution for sailors who appreciate the convenience of an electric winch but do not want to forego the flexibility of a portable solution. With its robust design, powerful technology and versatile application options, it is an ideal addition to any sailing yacht.
