At that time I had deleted with Sikkens Super Gloss. I'm glad that there is an equivalent successor for this great color. Actually works with roller application without smoothing with brush.

Product details

This one-component high gloss enamel has been developed based on HS-technology. SUPER GLOSS HS is a high-gloss enamel with low VOC content, which is simple to use, even at low temperatures. It can be applied with a roller and does not need to be smoothed. Long lasting, it does not lose its gloss.

HS stands for High Solid: There is a higher percentage of solids in the paint: "more colour - less solvent". The environment is protected, without compromises on the product performance. SUPER GLOSS HS produces less odour and is already completely opaque after 1 to 2 coats. Yield: 13.3 m²/litre. Contents: 750 ml. Various colours are available. Thinner no.1.

Processing instructions

For coated surfaces

In good condition: Wash down with a suitable detergent, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Then sand the surface.
In poor condition: Remove all previous coatings and prime the surface.

Technical Data

Processing temperature: +10 °C to max. 35 °C
Drying time at 15 °C: 4.5 hours
Processing time at 15 °C: min. 36 hours

GRP
Degrease with thinner No.1 or Super Cleaner. Thoroughly sand with 180-220 grit sandpaper. Clean well and allow to dry. Prime the surface with a suitable primer, such as One Up. Then apply 1-2 coats of Super Gloss.

Weathered gelcoat
Degrease with thinner No.1 or Super Cleaner. Thoroughly sand with 180-220 grit sandpaper. Clean well and allow to dry. To avoid blistering, apply 3 coats of a 2-component primer, then overcoat with a 2-component undercoat paint. Then apply 1-2 coats of Super Gloss.

Wood / Plywood
Abrade with 80180 grade (grit) paper. Then with 280 grit paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing, dusting and wiping. Allow to dry completely before applying primer. Prime the surface with a suitable primer, such as One Up. Then apply 1-2 coats of Super Gloss.

Oily woods
Degrease the surface thoroughly. Use 80-180 grit sandpaper for sanding. Then with 280 grit paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing or dusting. Allow the surface to dry completely before applying a primer. Prime the surface with a suitable primer, such as One Up. Then apply 1-2 coats of Super Gloss.

Steel
Degrease with thinner No.1 or Super Cleaner. Gritblast to near white metal surface (Sa 2½). If gritblasting is not possible, grind the metal surface with 36-40 abrasive discs to a uniform, clean, bright well roughened metal surface (5075microns) anchor pattern. Use angle grinder on small areas. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Prime the surface with a suitable primer, such as One Up. Then apply 1-2 coats of Super Gloss.

Aluminium
Degrease with thinner No.1 or Super Cleaner. Thoroughly sand with 60-120 grit sandpaper (suitable for aluminum). Clean well and allow to dry. Prime as soon as possible (within 8 hours) with One UP. Then apply 1-2 coats of Super Gloss.

Absolutely incredible!

Easy to apply (foam roller).
Extremely opaque product (I had planned on one 750g tub per side for a GibSea 282) and I actually have some left over!!
The finish is really nice and high-quality. No roller marks and a remarkable shine.
Preparation Tips
1. Remove the stickers with a heat gun (the most tedious part...)
2. Rough sanding with sandpaper (remember to use a sanding block, it's faster)
3. Degrease the hull (acetone cloth)
4. Wipe away the dust (cloth)
5. Masking tape (2 more tedious!)
6. Time for the brush – very satisfying

100% of the hull done in one day! Now all that's left is to apply the antifouling before launching ;-)
