This innovative LED stern light from Lopolight features a light and compact aluminum housing and is intended for use with vessels less than 20 metres in length. Boasting an impressive 50,000 h of service life as well as 90% less consumption compared to traditional incandescent bulbs. The epoxy resin cast housing also provides IP68 waterproof protection. Pre-wired with a 2.5 m shielded marine cable. BSH approval, wheelmark and marine certification.

Insufficient lifespan

In 2009 I replaced both bow lights and the stern light with Lopolight. Since then, the ship has unfortunately often been in the hall, only 4 net years outdoors and maybe 10 to 15 operating hours for the lights. The last light went out today. The stern lantern initially only glowed weakly. Red and green are totally gone from now on.
I wrote with Lopolight, they are not aware of any error and offer me a discount on a new purchase. The lights are so old.

If I do the math, I can buy a set of new navigation lights with replaceable bulbs every 3 years instead of these without replaceable light medium. So it makes absolutely no sense to invest in Lopolight if you go by price-performance.

A pity! Because they are pretty and as long as they work, they also make good light. But obviously there are inferior components in it, because there is no other way to explain why a simple LED light gives up the ghost when plotters, instruments and other much more complex electronic components that are much older on board are still running perfectly.
