In short
Navionics chart UK, Ireland & Holland 28XG Intentionally incomplete chart update in the Dutch Wadden Sea. Useless as a navigation aid. I would give zero stars if SVB allowed it.

In long form
My eagerly awaited entry into plotter-guided navigation went horribly wrong. After c-map did not get the 2019 update even for our summer vacation, I decided on the advice of SVB for Navionics, since the update problem does not exist there because the map material is always kept up to date, i.e. bought the 28XG map and updated it on June 12th. registered and updated on the Navionics website (update successful).

In comparison with the actually encountered conditions and with the Dutch nautical chart 1811, edition corrected in March 2018 (i.e. a nautical chart that is at least 1.5 years old), there were unacceptable deviations in the soil profile in the western Waddenzee of the Netherlands. It is obvious that Navionics adapts the buoys to the current status when updating the map, but has neglected to do this for years (at least 2) with the soil profile, which is more complex to adapt.

An example
In the Schuitengat before Terschelling, the buoyage in the Navionics map runs between SG4 and SG12 over a tidal flat that is 1.1 meters dry. The 1811 map from 32018 used for comparison shows the bottom profile that is still available today (water depth greater than 2 m with barre 1 m between SG4 and SG6, reference LAT) and the current buoyage for navigation with sufficient accuracy. The Schuitengat is not a remote fairway, but an important section of the holiday motorway between Kornwerderzand and Terschelling.

Conclusion
According to my understanding of product liability, a nautical chart manufacturer is liable for damage resulting from the use of his nautical chart if he intentionally fails to update important navigational changes in the water depths known to him without giving a clear warning that the depth information is outdated and unsuitable for navigation and if On the contrary, he advertises his nautical chart as always having the latest chart material available through daily updates. I derive the presumption of intent from the fact that Navionics must be aware of the official updates, since the buoyage corresponds to the current status. The errors of the 28XG chart, which claims to be a nautical chart for the Netherlands, in one of the main areas of the Netherlands are a serious deficiency.
