As always, the NV Atlas is available as a pack and includes all the outline maps, zone maps, detailed maps, etc. The A2 format bound chart (A3 closed) comes in a handy and space-saving format. The flat booklet ensures working with a protractor is easy. This chart is also available as a digital version! The charts can be used with the free NV Charts application on most systems and on up to 5 devices simultaneously.

The charts are based on data from official surveying and mapping sources, as well as NV's own surveys, which results in charts that are particularly rich in details, especially outside the main navigation channels.

Ist eine interessante Alternative zu den BSH- Sportbootkarten. Auch preislich.
Jedoch einige Blätter sind nicht gut eingescannt, etwas faseriges Schriftbild. Auch der Blattschnitt ist bei mindestens einem Blatt nicht gut. Nämlich nördlich der Elbe, Insel Trischen. Hier ist der Schnitt senkrecht angeordnet. Kartentische sind aber meist für Querformat ausgelegt. Und auf diesem Streckenabschnitt (Buschsandfahrwasser- Norderelbe) benötigt man die Karte sehr.
Warum sind die Alternativen von Helgoland zum Festland außer Cuxhaven nicht dargestellt. Es fehlt hier der Weg nach Büsum oder in die Weser, falls aus welchen Gründen auch immer, einem der Weg in die Elbe "versperrt" ist. Das ist im Kartensatz BSH 3014 besser gelöst. Würde auch hierfür 5,-€ mehr ausgeben.

Up-to-dateness and sustainability leave much to be desired
Unfortunately, the nautical chart leaves much to be desired in terms of both timeliness and sustainability.

First, there is the map's status, February 2025. Subsequent changes must be corrected manually, but this only works if the publisher manages to publish and make the corrections available in a timely manner. Unfortunately, this only works to a very limited extent. After registering for the update service, you sometimes have to wait several weeks for updates, even those released before the purchase, to be made available. Even after that, the corrections are only made available at very long intervals (one month).

In addition, the map can't really be used for more than one season. NV-Charts promises to ship the latest update in October. After that, it's over. So, after just a short time, you have an out-of-date map. Unfortunately, there is no update service for previous year's maps, as other publishers offer for their maps. Therefore, you have to buy a new map every year, and the correction drama described above starts all over again.

It's very unfortunate that the only charts available for this area are NV Charts, meaning you have to rely on them if you want to travel on the North Sea. But this monopoly is probably also the reason for the poor timeliness and correction service.
