The Hammar H20E hydrostatic release unit is an essential safety module for maritime water sports, specially designed for the automatic release of life rafts and EPIRBs. When a ship sinks, the increasing water pressure activates a spring-loaded blade within the HRU that cuts the rope or plastic bolt securing the equipment to the vessel, allowing it to float free and enable rapid evacuation.
Functionality and design
The Hammar H20E works reliably in extreme conditions and requires no annual maintenance or spare parts. It is made of glass fibre-reinforced nylon, which is corrosion-resistant and can withstand temperatures from -30°C to +65°C. It is activated automatically at a water depth of 1.5 to 4 metres, where an integrated knife cuts the rope or plastic bolt securing the equipment to the vessel. The trigger is designed for a service life of two years , after which it should be replaced.
The Hammar H20E is recognised worldwide and meets international safety standards, including the SOLAS 74/96 convention. Easy handling and reliable operation make it a favourite choice for water sports enthusiasts and professional sailors alike. The combination of automatic activation and tough construction means that the Hammar H20E offers the highest level of safety at sea.
