Product details

This YDEG-04 engine gateway can be used to transfer the data of Volvo Penta EVC engines (year of manufacture 2002 and later) to an SeaTalkNG network, giving you the optimal overview of speed, voltage, temperature, oil pressure and much more on your multifunctional display.

The interface has a standard 6-pin deutsch plug/socket, so it can be easily integrated into the engine network (e.g. in front of the rev counter). Engine malfunction does not occur, because the interface only sends data and does not receive it. Configuration is done via a text file, which must be saved on an optional microSD card and subsequently inserted into the existing card slot.

With an optional adapter cable (click here) also suitable for Mercury / Mercruiser engines.

The following adapter cables are available for connection to an existing motor display:
Engine Adapter cable SVB Itm.
Volvo Penta EVC-A Via the 6 pin Deutsch connector of the EVC-A-M motor 90296
Volvo Penta EVC-A MC Via the 12 pin connector C5 of the EVC-A MC motor 90297
Volvo Penta EVC-A EC Via the 12 pin connector X5 of the EVC-A EC motor 90298
Volvo Penta EVC EFI MEFI4B ECU or later petrol engine with year of construction 2004/2005 with or without EVC 90316
Volvo EVC/VODIA Via the 8 pin connector of the EVC/VOIDA motor 90317
Mercury / Mercruiser Via the 10 pin connector of the Smartcraft motor from 2011 onwards 90317

Only partially does what it's supposed to.
Installation was a breeze (plug and play on a Bavaria 33 with two Volvo Penta D3 190 hp engines). Many engine data are displayed. Water temperature, depth, and speed are not, however; you need an additional adapter for that.

Easy installation
The device works well. As all things boat related it is expensive, as if manufacurers believe that all sailors are billionaires.
However the installation of the monitor on a Volvo D2-75 went very well and programming the device is straight forward.
We do not have any information on reliability yet as the installation was done a couple of weeks ago. But we will see.

Hello, it is not clear to me how to connect this device to the Seatalk NG network as the manual does not cover this. Probably a T-piece is needed (e.g item number 98571). Could you please clarify? Many thanks

YACHT DEVICES

YDEG-04R should be connected to SeaTalk NG backbone directly, without a spur cable. YDEG-04N can be connected to NMEA2000 DeviceNet backbone using a drop cable up to 6 meters. If you need a longer connection for SeaTalk NG network, I can recommend to choose YDEG-04N with DeviceNet drop cable and A06075/A06035 adapter cable (DeviceNet-to-SeaTalk NG).

Thank you for your answer but I am afraid that I still do not understand. I have a SeaTalk NG network and the backbone is arriving at the chart plotter located near the helm. Here i have also The Volvo display is located less then 1m from the chart plotter. The gateway comes evidently with a Nmea female connector from what I see in the photo. Where is the male connector on the backbone line to which this female connector shall be plugged? Needless to say that when on the boat I will have no possibility to buy cables, connectors or "T" devices, etc. I need to know everything I need in advance. If I may, it would have been much easier if the manual showed exactly how to connect this device to the Seatalk NTW. many thanks

>> The gateway comes evidently with a Nmea female connector from what I see in the photo. This is NOT NMEA2000 DeviceNet connector on the photo, but SeaTalk NG female connector, which should be connected to the white SeaTalk NG male connector on A06028/A06064 SeaTalk NG T-connectors (i.e. SeaTalk NG backbone). DeviceNet connector has 5 pins, SeaTalk NG connector has 6 pins. Hope this helps.
