Product details

Four different models of rodkicker are available:

  • type 05 (min. length lifting point 1.15 m): for boats with displacement of 2.5 t (fractional rig) / 3.9 t (masthead rig) and a height of Boom up to 0.9 m
  • type 10 (min. length lifting point 1.36 m) for boats with displacement of 5 t (fractional rig) / 6 t (masthead rig) and a height of Boom up to 1.10 m
  • type 20 (min. length lifting point 1.72 m) for boats with displacement of 9 t (fractional rig) /11 t (masthead rig) and height of Boom up to 1.40 m
  • type 30 (min. length lifting point 2.20 m) for boats with displacement of 20 t (fractional rig) / 25 t (masthead rig) and a height of Boom of up to 1.80 m

The rodkicker facilitates reefing the sail, it maintains the boom, preventing it from dropping in the cockpit or on deck and it avoids the use of a topping lift. The gas spring, which is sold separately, presses the boom up when the downhauling-tackle is released. For masthead yachts the weaker spring is recommended while fractional rigs, having a relatively long boom, should be used with the stronger gas spring.

Note: delivered without gas spring and downhaul tackle. Mast and boom fittings are sold separately.

I would like to install a rodkicker in a Najad 34, which model should I choose, 10 or 20? And what gas spring? Are boom and mast fittings included with the rodkicker? Which are the most suitable?

I think you need hard gas spring 2500N. You can find right solution in selden website https://www.seldenmast.com/index.php?id=4948&letter=B&db=1. Choose your boat tipe and selden tells you correct size of any equipement.
