The IS42 is a smart multi-purpose instrument featuring a full colour display and modern glass helm styling. See wind, speed, depth, engine data, autopilot status, AIS data and more at a glance, or add the optional OP12 keypad to take full control of your Simrad autopilot system. The IS42 integrates brilliantly with Simrad multifunction displays and glass helm systems, or can function as a standalone instrument display and autopilot controller aboard smaller vessels.
Optically bonded 4.1-inch colour display
The IS42 employs a full-colour display to deliver clear digital instruments and intuitive on-screen menus. Designed for use in all conditions, the IS42’s LCD panel is optically bonded to its protective glass covering – this eliminates the possibility of condensation or fogging within the display. Transflective LCD technology makes use of reflected sunlight to brighten rather than obscure the displayed image, delivering superior daytime visibility and lower power consumption compared to traditional backlit displays.
Multi-purpose digital instrument
The IS42 instrument can be configured to display multiple ‘pages’ containing information such as wind conditions, vessel speed, depth, and more. Engine monitoring pages display important data such as RPM, engine temperature, trim tab status, fuel flow and fuel economy for up to two NMEA 2000® connected engines. For collecting depth, speed and temperature data, the IS42 comes with the DST-800 through-hull transducer.
Advanced AIS functionality (requires optional AIS receiver)
When networked with a compatible AIS receiver, the IS42 offers a clear graphical display of nearby AIS-equipped vessels. Watch for potential collision hazards with customisable alarms, and receive AIS safety messages right on the IS42 for the ultimate situational awareness. Connect a compatible DSC-capable VHF radio, and the IS42 can also be used to initiate direct radio calls to AIS-equipped vessels – simplifying on-water communications and getting you connected quicker and easier.
Intuitive operation
Quickly switch between the IS42’s pages to access the information you need, when you need it. A simple pushbutton interface with waterproof silicon keys makes the IS42 easy to use in rough conditions, and reliably responsive to wet or gloved hands.
Easy installation
The IS42 is simple to install with an easy front-mount option, requiring no access to the back of the console or panel, and single-cable NMEA 2000® connectivity for both power and data. It’s even easier to configure data pages suited to your boat and activities, with a simple menu system and auto-configuration for engine monitoring pages.
Autopilot control with OP12 keypad (available seperately)
Pair the Simrad IS42 display with an OP12 keypad to create a fully functional control head for compatible Simrad autopilot systems. Leverage Simrad Continuum autopilot technology to steer to a set course, maintain your heading against wind and tide with No Drift steering, and fish or cruise easier with automated turn patterns and depth contour tracking. The OP12 keypad matches the IS42’s glass bridge style, and can be mounted alongside the display or separately to best match your preferred control scheme.
Low-profile glass helm design
Designed to complement Simrad glass helm displays such as the NSS evo2 and MO series marine monitors, the IS42 features modern styling with a low surface-mount profile of just eight millimetres. A compact footprint enables mounting almost anywhere, while the IS42’s large 4.1-inch display ensures maximum visibility and ease of use.
Certified NMEA 2000® connectivity
The IS42 is compatible with a wide range of digital instruments, sensors, engine monitoring interfaces, Simrad autopilot systems, and other NMEA 2000® data sources. With plug-and-play NMEA 2000® connectivity, you can use as many or as few IS42 displays as needed to create your ideal digital instrument setup.
Includes DST810 with Bluetooth interface
The DST-810 through-hull transducer is included in the delivery contents. This is easily integrated into the NMEA2000 network using the NMEA2000 starter kit, which is also included, and provides information on depth, speed and temperature. In addition, the sensor can be quickly and easily calibrated via the Bluetooth interface using the Airmar Cast app. The device can measure depths up to 100 m, speeds up to 45 knots and temperatures up to +40 °C. A 5 Hz signal output ensures smooth playback on your display device.
