For a long lasting good result you wanna use a 2-component varnish. To avoid blistering due to old varnishes you should sanding off all existing coats before. I'm using Perfection Plus from International. It is super easy to apply, using for each layer a new high quality varnish brush. Just read the instructions from International before you start.
