Best antifouling for sailboats. Gives a smooth surface. In the autumn just wash off with high pressure and then paint again in the next spring. I have 40 years experience with anti-foulings. I used everything. from tin (forbidden to-day) through selfpolishing, hard and teflon with cupper anti-foulings... If you want to sail fast, with the least fouling and easy winter painting: use VC17M with cupper. The Dutch Environmental Gouvernment banned using cupper, but was overrulled bij the EU. (We are however allowed to drink water out out of cupper pipes in the NL).

Copper color is on an fresh air, after coating. When boat is immersed, color getting graphite.

Copper colour stays before immersion. On water copper oxidizes and turn gray. That’s normal. It is a very good antifouling. I’ve been using it the last three years, works nicely on my J109.

Yes, I,m pretty shure that it works, I have used VC-17M on my last 4 sailingboats during a period of 35 years, also on other epoxies than VC-Tar. However, read the instructions on the epoxi carefully, sometimes there is a timelimit on how late you can apply the VC-17M without the need of grinding/sanding the surface.

I would absolutely not try Hempadur as an underwater primer as base for VC-17M. But you can without doubt use Hempels Light Primer. If your plan is to use VC-17M as antifouling why not use the recommended primer?
