Zinc anodes, also called "sacrificial anodes", protect all metal parts below the waterline from corrosion. To prevent corrosion of the hull, the anode oxidises faster than the metal it is protecting, sacrificing itself before the other metal reacts with the electrolytes. The water, which acts as an electrolyte here, varies in its aggressiveness depending on the navigable waters. Typically, anodes have to be replaced once per season. In harsh water conditions, a more frequent replacement schedule might be necessary.

Good general model
Fits quite easily on the Essyhub 78 propeller. The description doesn't make it very clear which propellers this part fits. Once the part was aligned so that the correct screw holes were in place, it was easy to attach the screws. The screws didn't come with it, but the old ones will work here too.

#29620 zinc anode for Maxprop..I have 25mm shaft and the spacing for my screws is 43mm, the outer unused screw holes are 46mm...Is this the riht one for my yacht ? Thanks, Mike

Does this anode include a molded non-zinc ring like the original? The existing anode was obviously aftermarket and, since the screw holes are the thinnest metal, threatens to fall off after only 6 months. I would like to avoid the same problem again.

Dear Alastair, this anode is made using the die casting procedure, where molten metal is injected at high pressure and high temperature into a mould. The resulting final part is much stiffer than parts made by gravity casting and does not need any bushing.
