Description
The Elan E3 is a 9.25 metre sailing yacht from Elan Marine's E-Line, designed by Rob Humphreys and conceived as a modern performance cruiser. It is powered by sails and is supported by an inboard with saildrive as an auxiliary engine for harbour manoeuvres. Characteristic features include the pronounced chines in the stern and the twin rudder system with two rudder blades, which ensure controlled manoeuvrability even when heeling. The keel is designed as a T-keel with a lead bomb. The cockpit is wide and designed for sailing with a small crew. Below deck, the Elan E3 was built almost exclusively as a 2-cabin version. It has a forward berth and an aft cabin, complemented by a saloon, galley and wet room. Compared to the smaller Elan E1, the Elan E3 offers more spacious comfort with the same level of performance. The Elan E3 is therefore suitable for sporty cruising sailors who want to go on longer trips.
