Description
The Elan 38 is an 11.65 metre sailing yacht designed by J&J Design and strongly influenced by the IOR concept of the time. The hull is comparatively narrow in the waterline, but has a clear width on deck. Propulsion is via sails and is supported by an inboard engine with a classic shaft system as an auxiliary engine for harbour manoeuvres. The cockpit offers long benches and sufficient space for the crew when sailing or racing. Below deck, the Elan 38 was built as a 3-cabin version as standard. She has a forward berth and two aft cabins, supplemented by saloon berths, galley, navigation table and wet room. The layout makes her a widely used charter yacht of her time. Compared to the smaller Elan 36, the Elan 38 offers more length and significantly more interior space. This makes the Elan 38 suitable for longer trips with a larger crew.
