Description
The Excess 13 is a 12.99 to 15.3 metre long catamaran with an open cockpit and two helm stations positioned aft of the hulls. The design was created by VPLP. It is characterised by the direct connection between the cockpit and saloon on the bridge deck, where the galley is also located. Cabins and bathrooms are housed in the hulls. Large windows in the superstructure provide plenty of light in the saloon. Characteristic features include the clear deck layout, wide side decks, flexible cabin layouts and direct feedback at the helm stations. Compared to the Excess 12, the Excess 13 offers more length, more interior space and additional layout options, but remains designed for direct steering and active sailing. The Excess 13 is aimed at crews looking for more space without abandoning the concept of the series.
