uncomplicated cruising yacht We wanted a kind of mobile home on the water to explore the Mediterranean. This boat offered us exactly that. It's ideal for a small family. With more than three people, the cockpit gets cramped. Since there are only two of us sailing, it needs to be easy to handle; in an emergency, one person needs to be able to manage it alone. The boat is straightforward to handle, but when sailing upwind in stronger winds, you have to reef in good time, otherwise you risk broaching. You really notice the short Bermuda keel on these courses. Because of the limited space in marinas, we had a bow thruster retrofitted. It makes life easier. We get along well with the boat. All sheets can be operated from the cockpit. We liked the layout: two cabins, a saloon, a galley, a head, and a central cockpit. The workmanship and materials are good. Below deck, the wood is a combination of light cherry and mahogany. It's a bit dark, but that was the style back then. After 28 years, the seals on the windows and the stanchions were worn through. The rigging needed an overhaul, but after such a long time, repairs are inevitable, and some things needed to be brought up to modern standards. The boat was built in 1998, and we bought it in January 2022. The Oceanis isn't a high-strung racehorse, but rather a motorhome on the water, which is exactly what we wanted. The boat is moored in Spain in the Mediterranean Sea.
