Easier than using a folding rule

Very useful with a little practice, quality not convincing
It's a bit fiddly to get reproducible measurements, but it works. I haven't calibrated the readings though.
The part is poorly punched out of sheet metal and simply riveted. The main problem is that the sheet metal is actually too thin and can therefore easily bend across the actual measuring direction.
