Product details

Due to its specially designed shape, the KOBRA anchor has excellent holding power on all beds. The special feature of this anchor is that by loosening a screw on the underside, the shaft can be folded up for easier, space-saving storage. This makes the Kobra anchor particularly recommendable as a second or reserve anchor. It is neatly finished, galvanised and boasts an excellent price-performance ratio. Of course, the anchor can be used in almost any normal bow roller.

Note
The information regarding suitable boat length is only a guideline. If you are unsure, please select a higher anchor weight.

Manufacturing defect
The holes in the rod and the pivoting coulter do not coincide when the coulter is placed in abutment on the rod. The 10mm bolt that holds the coulter therefore does not fit. You can make the holes coincide, but then the coulter is no longer in abutment and it is the bolt that will support the effort, which can be very important. The thread will inevitably be damaged and the bolt will twist. With the risk of no longer being able to remove it. I was able to solve the problem by putting in a 6mm bolt and washers. The coulter is then firmly in abutment. And, in this case, the bolt does not undergo any effort and 6mm is enough.

Faulty manufacturing
We purchased an 8kg Kobra anchor in June 2022. It was difficult to dig in and came loose when the wind shifted. The cause was that the anchor obviously could not unfold fully. The anchor's attachment point in the tip is not reached because the round bar welded in at the rear is pressed against the folding mechanism. Here the manufacturing tolerances were probably only on paper. The required folding angle is relevant to safety and, in my opinion, should be checked by SVB. Otherwise, the concept of the Kobra anchor is very good.

Can you confirm that these are latest version of the Cobra, which for what I read seem to be called "Cobra 2"? Thanks! I'm interested in the 12Kg one #16397#
