While I know your hands are tied regarding the update, I find it a stretch to work through this Navionics guide. My PC skills are not that bad, but some of the possible errors during the update cannot be corrected, ... in other words ... trial and error are then ruled out.

Do you already have a Navionics chart? The NAVIONICS Update charts include Freshest Data updates for 12 months.
Buoys change their position, sandbars shift, rock formations and sunken structures are discovered every day. With a Freshest Data subscription, you won't miss important changes: daily updates.

The following charts are compatible with the Navionics+ chart update:
  • Navionics+
  • Navionics+ Updates
  • Navionics Platinum+
  • HotMaps Platinum

Activating the Navionics+ chart updates

With Navionics+ Updates, you receive a blank Navionics chart specifically designed to refresh your outdated charts. This process is easily done via the Navionics Chart Installer software.

How it works:
  1. Activation: Use a micro SD/SD chart reader (not included) to connect the Navionics+ Updates chart to your computer and download the Navionics Chart Installer software from the Navionics website to activate it with your old, qualified chart.
  2. Chart download: Once your chart subscription is activated, you can download the latest chart updates directly to your new Navionics chart.
  3. Use on the plotter: Transfer the updated chart to your GPS chart plotter to immediately benefit from the detailed and up-to-date navigation data.

Important note:
Navionics+ Updates charts enable the download of standard chart functions. If you have a Navionics Platinum+™ chart, you can use it to activate a new Navionics+ Updates chart, but the premium functions of Platinum+ (e.g. satellite images, 3D views) cannot be transferred to the new Navionics+ Updates chart.

This Navionics stuff is annoying. It's a hopeless jumble of products, subscriptions, renewals, updates, registration, activation... It follows the motto "Confuse if you can't convince." I bought an update for plotter maps two years ago, and when I wanted to activate them, they had expired without me having used them once. My own fault? Yes, probably, lost in the chaos of the offer! Customer service goodwill? Nooooo. Now I can buy the stuff again. What a bummer! Unfortunately, I bought maps for the tablet in the winter that are supposed to correspond with the plotter data. So I _have_ to stick with Navionics this time. After that, never again!

Navionics Update
Although I contacted SVB to make sure the update map was compatible with my GPS before ordering it, it turned out that my map could not be validated by Navionics. Card returned for reimbursement refused because the card had been activated (difficult to do otherwise to see that it did not work). In conclusion, it is better to contact Navionics or its dealers directly because there it borders on scam. I could have imagined SVB able to deal with the problem with Navionics directly !!!!
