The CAMINO-108 series is the new generation of AIS-B transceivers. Optimised reception and transmission power in a compact housing with BSH and CE certification. The dual channel receiver allows monitoring of all AIS signals, such as Class A (commercial shipping), Class B, AtoN and SART. NMEA2000, NMEA0183 and USB ports can be used to connect to chartplotters and PC's.

Can I configure the device using the official software (https://www.milltechmarine.com/downloads) and leave both CALLSIGN and MMSI blank for later setup? MMSI is not reprogrammable, and I'm awaiting CALLSIGN and MMSI. However, while I wait, I'd like to configure the system and test it.

Does CAMINO-108S AIS Transponder work as a receiver without entering the MMSI number? According to the manual, if MMSI is not properly programmed, the Error indicator will light red and steady.

Dear Andrius, yes, the Camino will work as an AIS Receiver (RX) when the MMSI is not configured. 1. Please leave the MMSI unconfigured. 2. Have the Camino 12VDC powered, and GPS/VHF antenna connected. 3. And yes, an ERROR message will appear, but the user can ignore it. If the MMSI has been configured, there are two (2) ways to prevent Camino from transmitting. 1. The best way is to put the Camino into SILENT MODE. 2. The alternate method is to leave the GPS antenna disconnected. (however, not recommended).
