The lower end of the flagpole is one inch in diameter.
If the stainless steel tube into which the pole is meant to fit is also one inch in diameter, the pole won't fit.
Therefore, the diameter of the pole will need to be reduced to 23 mm at the insertion point.
Consequently, the varnish will be absent at the insertion point.
Rain will cause the wood inside the tube to swell, making it impossible to remove the pole from the tube!
