I use this part as a rudder vang cleat.

An initial test (at approximately 6 knots) shows that the cleat holds and doesn't release prematurely. In case of grounding, it can be manually released at any time (even at full tension).

Thus, torn or broken vangs are a thing of the past.

I previously had a cam cleat, which tore the vang sheath several times.

Good Compact Cleat

I bought 2 of these to replace like-for-like 2 others that were a decade old.
They look exactly the same with the additional knob to adjust traction.

The holes on the basis do not match the former model (10 years older), meaning I could only reuse one and had to drill a couple new ones for installed the 2 cleats.
