The previous one hung on the railing for 20 years – thankfully never needed (the lifebuoy can't be blamed for that). It's practical and doesn't take up much space.

This is clearly a single purpose product that needs to do its job. It is well made and a quality product. It provides a clever alternative to the traditional life ring.

The collar has the same dimensions as its predecessor, which is roughly the same, and fits into the existing holder, which saves money. Instead of orange, the new collar is yellow and therefore perhaps even more UV-stable. The new collar has a simplified attachment line guide and apparently no cast weight. Should the collar, like its predecessor model, last for around 25 years, I will hardly be able to make a final assessment.

I've had this life jacket for a few years now, and of course, it's attached to the outside of my boat, exposed to wind, weather, and sun 365 days a year (in the Adriatic). Now the material is slowly dissolving, and if you lightly stroke it with the palm of your hand, orange powder trickles down. Quite a lot of it! That's obviously microplastics that end up directly in the ocean! And besides, the life jacket was far too expensive to replace every 2-3 years! It's awful without a protective cover. I'm now switching to the classic life jacket. I realize it won't last forever, but it won't disintegrate like that, costs only about a third of the price, and is much easier to throw in an emergency. I wouldn't buy this jacket again.
