I've had this life jacket for a few years now, and of course, it's attached to the outside of my boat, exposed to wind, weather, and sun 365 days a year (in the Adriatic). Now the material is slowly dissolving, and if you lightly stroke it with the palm of your hand, orange powder trickles down. Quite a lot of it!
That's obviously microplastics that end up directly in the ocean! And besides, the life jacket was far too expensive to replace every 2-3 years! It's awful without a protective cover. I'm now switching to the classic life jacket. I realize it won't last forever, but it won't disintegrate like that, costs only about a third of the price, and is much easier to throw in an emergency. I wouldn't buy this jacket again.
