Honey, 60 year old granny, dinghy cruiser
Sometimes I have to glue something and smooth it out and then brush it nicely with art. Sikaflext is really great to use for this. So fun to work with!

good glue but sensitive to UV
I used this product to seal my log transducer, and it seems to have held up after 10 months.
For exterior seals (deck hatches and shroud plates), the product is sticky and traps all the dirt.
I think UV rays are damaging it, and it should be painted.
It's a good, elastic glue that fixes the seal, but for how long?

Good product
Good product, the tip could be a little thinner. It comes out a little too much.

Good sealant
Tikal actually works always, everywhere and on any material. Clean and degrease the surface and you're ready to go. Clear recommendation

I stuck teak on boat plywood. After initial difficulties in distributing the compound with the notched trowel, it worked well. The result is good and the adhesive power too.

Unfortunately not UV resistant
Tikal sticks well and stays in the refrigerator for a long time after opening. Adhesions that are exposed to intense sunlight begin to crumble and dissolve after a year, even though the tube says UV resistant. This is not good!

Good product, poor hose
I ordered TIKALFLEX contact 12 in the cartridge and in the "variant for in-between times" in the small tube hose with a metal clip to screw in. Processing with the cartridge was flawless. Processing with the tube hose was impossible because the casing of both tubes used was torn. On the one hand because of the poorly made metal clip (sharp edges), on the other hand probably because of the somewhat tougher consistency of the product (was processed at an ambient temperature of 24 degrees) and the pressure required. I have already processed comparable systems from SIKA several times without any problems. I cannot recommend the product in this version (!!!) to anyone and will not buy it again.

If the deck did not come back up after 2 years
Glued on my ship the deck with teak on 2 mm mahogany board with Sika and glued this construct in the season with Tikal on the GRP deck. Have already had to re-glue some teak strips in the cockpit because they broke away. Now I realize that after 2 years, the teak deck is largely solved by the GRP, now water is under the wood and it in the rain, if you burden the bodies with his body weight, at the joints "outside" really "puffs", weill air and water wells. Everything according to data sheet processed and degreased by the manufacturer. Everything that was glued with Sikaflex (cabin construction) has been bombproof and not otherwise processed. Can probably tear down the entire deck, which should not be difficult, since already solved everything, and make for a few thousand euros in the winter everything new. Thanks a lot to Tikal, the miracle product. Know another owner who had his deck built in a reputable shipyard. There is the same problem!
Our answer
Antwort vom Hersteller Tikal:

Sehr geehrter Norman G.,

Response from the manufacturer Tikal:

Dear Norman G.,

We would have been very pleased if you had contacted us with such a case of damage. We would then certainly have been able to find out the cause.
Tikalflex is not advertised anywhere as a miracle product, but it has been used on thousands of ships worldwide for 20 years now and we can therefore assure you that the problem is not due to the basic properties of the product.
The statement that a "renowned shipyard" had this problem is very surprising, because B2B customers usually contact the manufacturer in the event of clear product defects and we are not aware of any such case in the last ten years.
So they glued the teak deck to the mahogany with Sikaflex (which one?) and then glued it to the GRP with Contact12.
There are many reasons why delamination can occur after two years, as I said, this should have been investigated in the actual case.
We generally recommend our TLB Flex for bonding a teak deck, but a mahogany panel bonded to GRP with C12 will always adhere to C12 without any problems.

Not highly recommended
Sorry, but the tube is not very stable. If you want to seal small areas, the tube will unfortunately break when you push it out. Unfortunately, the included roller is not very helpful and is quite unstable.

Not recommended in the hose
Good idea because you don't throw away so much.
But in my case the tube burst open on the side of the collar when I pushed it out.
Won't buy it anymore.

Do not moisten, as sugested from the manufacturer !
The manufacturer will advise you to use a sponge or light water spray, when used for bonding Dek-King(Flexiiiteek), as he Dek-king is diffusion tight. DO NOT MOISTEN ANY SURFACE !. It will result in a very bad bond. I Lost an entire season having redo it all, with a modest result. a lot of boat was destroyed along the progress.
It's a fair adhesive, with an open time of max. 10 min. For some reason the quality is not consistent, so you might be better of with another brand, when glueing down bigger areas.
For smaller job's it's great, and slightly cheaper than others.
Our answer
Sehr geehrter Matias J.,

Dear Matias J.,

In principle, Tikalflex tolerates a moistened adhesive surface very well and will produce a very good bond with diffusion-tight materials.
The Synteak Activator should always be used for synthetic deck coverings, most PVCs do not bond well with MS polymers, this has nothing to do with diffusion or moistening, but with the basic suitability.
There are now so many teak substitutes that we cannot test them all. We therefore recommend that you either enquire in advance or carry out a small trial application yourself. You will have the same problem with all MS polymer adhesives on the market.
It also depends on how the underside of the decking is created, there are very smooth or heavily ribbed variants, all of which adhere differently well or poorly.
