Stable tarpaulin, but not quite right for my purpose

I have a 7m long, old boat in winter storage here in the garden. The tarpaulin is 8 x 6m; it is almost too short in length (because of the cabin and the railing), but too wide - lots of overhang that is difficult to secure against storms. The grey looks very light, almost white, on the huge surface. In other words, it is a striking eye-catcher that can be seen from a distance. My girlfriend doesn't like it at all. The next tarpaulin will be dark grey.
