Unusable after one year!

The connector isn't waterproof. The contacts are supposed to be nickel-plated or nickel-plated, so where's the rust coming from? I had to replace a faulty cable, and all the contacts are rusted. One of the five contacts can no longer be unscrewed, so now I have to solder the new cable to the old one behind the contact. The old cable connection didn't look like this even after 20 years. The only solution is a suitable cover made with a 3D printer.
