Top shroud cutter for emergencies WITHOUT a lanyard
The shroud cutter replaces an older example from another company and is far better. I cut a test piece (7mm) and with little effort this is quite possible. However, you should practice the handling before the emergency. Only drop of bitterness. I had assumed that it was the example advertised by Baudat for sailing, with an eyelet for a lanyard. A copy was sent WITHOUT an eyelet lanyard. I'm going to tinker something here, because in an emergency the good piece is of no use if it goes overboard.

... well, you need strength, I can operate it with two hands. For my wife I procured two stainless steel square tubes 30x2, each 400 long, as a handle extension. These are clamped onto the yellow handles from the outside with 2 M6 screws each. But it works perfectly, you just have to apply the force, but after about 10x squeezing you have cut the wire. It's handy, you can imagine using it under extreme conditions. It makes a high quality impression. But you have to smear it with oil, because it is not rustproof, it is made from tool steel. I would recommend him.

Excellent cutter for rigging wire
I think this tool should be on all boats going offshore. I have personally tried this cutter on wires up to 10 mm. It is like putting the knife in the butter on a hot summer day.

Tested the wire cutter on 10 mm wire.

This is a professional product that cut 10 mm wire as butter on a hot summer day.

Even my friends son (8 years old) managed cutting 10 mm wire whithout a problem...

Very good quality and compact design. The ratchet technique also ensures that you really cut through the Want in an emergency!

expensive but reliable
It is a tool that for safety on board should be part of the mandatory safety equipment

It should be able to cut Wantendraht to 10mm. I have tried this with a leftover piece of Hamburger rope factory. It's just that way. In the test, it is important not only to cut 2 centimeters from the end of a piece (while flying the individual cut cardeels one after the other in the room) but \ "in the middle \" to cut, because that is the realistic application case and goes around a lot heavier. \ r \ nWith 10mm wire you need very big hands because you have to open the handles extremely wide to reach the next notch. I can not imagine how to do that with 13mm steel wire. \ R \ nMan needs about 10 - 15 clicks per cut. \ R \ nAfter a cut, your hands hurt and the muscles in your forearm are cramped. In case of emergency, you will certainly develop more power, but cutting every wish and stag of a complete rig in 10mm would be an effort that would not even hold a glass of water and have many bubbles. \ R \ nOn the positive side: \ r \ n- the quality of workmanship looks very good- there is a release with which you can get out of a stuck situation again without throwing away wire and scissors (but I have not tried) - MUCH smaller and MUCH cheaper as a professional device, which is mounted on a workbench stationary. Affordable for normal sailors who normally never use the unit - but not suitable for field-level riggers.

Cut according to Baudat not 20 but only 18mm. Single hand operation not possible. Overall, therefore misleading representation in the catalog
