For me, the most important thing is that I no longer carry gasoline in a bucket, then pour it into the engine.
This electric motor is easy to operate, it works silently. A small complaint is that the plastic pin for hardening the motor does not have something to attach it to because it can easily slip into the water during adjustment.

In contrast to the petrol-powered model, a woman can also use the dinghy alone. The Torqeedo runs reliably and is also light enough so that a not so strong person can handle the thing alone. Yes, the fun factor is limited, but it is perfectly sufficient for getting ashore in the bay etc.

Great outboard motor, very pleasant in terms of noise level and really brilliant in terms of performance.
The cable from the outboard motor to the battery is a bit tricky and a bit difficult to put on and tighten properly.
Otherwise top quality and easy to handle.

This is the second time I have bought a Torqueedo electric motor from Svb marine. I am really satisfied with the product but also (and above all) with the assistance received from SVB on several occasions. Professionalism is truly indisputable. Well done

As expected and also rated by SVB, expensive but very good!

The transit time from Germany to Greece is too long, 14 days. Since a battery was also included, it had to be sent with DHL. It was not due to the extradition in GR. The transport stalled somewhere in the Balkans. Ms. Gerdes tried very hard to do the research.

Besser als erwartet

Good build quality, clear instructions and surprisingly good performance. Battery capacity is very good but takes a long time (12-18 hrs) to charge fully. Much easier to handle than equivalent petrol outboard and no oil or petrol to leak or smell.

As usual from svb - fast, reliable and competent

am thrilled. The outboard is barely audible!

At first, I was reluctant to spend so much money, especially since I bought the Travel 1003 CL a year ago. But the delay caused by the transmission of the 1003 at the start from the rest phase has annoyed me in the long run. That's past history with the 1103. It runs virtually without delay and is as good as can not be heard due to the direct drive. An absolutely pleasant driving, perfect for fishing. The processing of the 1103 CL is more massive, which makes itself felt in the higher weight. Since the 1003 CL was much easier to carry. I have not regretted the purchase and I am very excited!

The product meets the expectations

Although it is intended for use on eg sailing ships, a 12v charging cable is missing. Worse still, there is no detailed manual that you should get yourself from the network. The performance and the range are better than expected

Purchased this electric outboard as emergency engine for a 8.5m sailboat. The thrust was a positive surprise, it is sufficiently powerful for harbour manoeuvres. The range was what I expected. It is also easy to operate. The propeller is good but brittlefragile, even in careful use we noticed minor damage to the tops. Another minus point is that charging is slow even when plenty of amps are available.

I ordered the motor for a dinghy that was 2.50 m long. It was much too heavy for that. The 20 kg weight was on the outside of the boat and as a driver you had to go as far forward as possible, but you still had to operate the motor. Absolutely unsuitable.

Basically an innovative product. As expected, the motor is quiet, powerful enough for a dinghy with a crew of 6, and the range is more than sufficient. Where you have to make compromises is the robustness of this motor. The tiller is hollow inside to save weight, but this creates the possibility of injury and predetermined breaking points. The battery has two pointed 'noses' on both sides, which may be nice, but they also pose a risk of injury, with predetermined breaking points. So it depends very much on the area of use of the motor. Inflatable boat on Lake Ammersee, no wind, no swell, ideal. Sea, 20 knots of wind and swell are other conditions that unnecessarily challenge the predetermined breaking points and injury possibilities of this motor. Slight structural changes would make a big difference here, even the propeller is more on the windy side...

After the first season, the aluminum above the waterline has corroded and the paint is partially peeling off.
Disappointing for the price. The plastic parts are very brittle and break easily. Otherwise it does what it's supposed to.

I definitely wouldn't buy it again.

First of all, the delivery etc. from SVB was, as always, quick and problem-free.

The electric motor (at least the one we got) doesn't come anywhere near the power stated by the manufacturer. Since there is a display that shows how much power is currently being used, it was nice and easy to test. At half power, 80% of the battery was used up after 2.4 nautical miles (dinghy 2.2 m, 110 kg payload, flat water, no wind), at full load it stopped after 1.3 nautical miles.
Manufacturer's specification 18 nautical miles at half load, 4.6 at full load.
I am aware that manufacturer's specifications on performance data are tested and stated under the most optimal conditions, but in this case, in my opinion, it is simply misleading and does not correspond to the statement in the product description.
It doesn't even come close to half the stated range! What about "exploring the world from the water", the immediate surroundings, nothing else.
On the other hand, the charging time is correspondingly long, in this case 13 hours from 20% remaining charge to full. That's no fun!!
Other negative aspects
- The display is difficult to read in sunlight
- There are no covers for the plug connections of the tiller and battery, so you have to be extremely careful that no salt water gets on the plugs when assembling or disassembling the components.
- The shaft discolors in salt water, even though it was cleaned and dried immediately after use..... Doesn't affect the function, but it's not pretty.
The only positive thing I can say is that the electric outboard is quieter and lighter than our old petrol engine, but that's not really a surprise.
There's still a lot of room for improvement in development here.

We use the engine as a dinghy drive. Unfortunately I am disappointed with a price of over 2500 €. Cheap plastic as a pin with small screw connectors for which there are not even protective caps, although it is written "protect from moisture". Cheap plastic for the accumulator. No protective cap for the cable from the motor to the battery. Unfortunately long battery charging times. Operation is easy.

I've had this motor for 5 years and I'm rowing it almost all the time. The propeller fuse is fragile and the propeller separates easily. After a rupture of the fuse, the propeller must also be changed (weakened plastic) Battery sealing problem which requires its replacement. Control electronics problem preventing the engine from starting. The plastic ages badly and becomes brittle on the battery (mechanical connection problem battery-motor) The electrical connectors are fragile and difficult to connect. They also pose problems of bad contacts. For use on the high seas the engine lacks power. An expensive and unreliable product.
