Perfect passive floating switch.
This floating switch is totally passive, not requiring extra power to operate. Easy to mount on the bottom of the bilge to operate main bilge pump. Integrates also neatly Ultima pumps.

Electronic float switch
After the conversion from the mechanical switch to this electronic switch, which controls two pumps in our historic wooden ship, we are very satisfied after a few months of use.

Float switch as a supplement
The float switch was added as a supplement to the existing 10-year pump - the brackets still fit!

Extremely slow start-up time
Unfortunately, I'm not as happy with the float switch as I was with the classic mechanical device.
When the water level drops or rises, it takes several seconds before the pump starts working.
Unfortunately, the connection cable is also very short. Therefore, the Ultima Switch is unsuitable for my purposes and I have to go back to the old solution.

plastic housing with manufacturing seams
The plastic housing is not "deburred" well. This is cheap and interferes with the removal of pollution or makes it easier for pollution to adhere like lint in a sewage basin.

As long as it works.....
Unfortunately no invoice available. My first electronic floating switch has worked for about 2 years. Pity......

Too much electronics.
This product doesn't last. A good old mechanical float will last 10 times longer. One wonders if this float isn't benefiting from planned obsolescence...

Broken after 5 years, battery destroyed at the same time
It lasted 5 years. Then the switch was still on, but not off. Unfortunately, this happened while I was away. The result: The AGM battery, which was only a year old, was drained to 0.1 V upon returning, thus destroying it. That was an expensive defect.

Reply from JOHNSON PUMP

Translated from English:
We’re sorry to hear about this. Based on the brief description and without any images, it's difficult to determine the exact cause of the issue. We’ve been manufacturing these switches for over 20 years and have experienced very few problems. Since the switch has been installed for five years, it’s unlikely that the issue was caused by reversed wiring or by mounting the switch below the pump—both of which could cause it to run continuously.

Another possible reason for the continuous operation could be a buildup on the sensors, causing the switch to falsely detect the presence of water and continue pumping, eventually draining the battery.

We are both willing and interested in investigating the cause. If the switch is still available, we would be happy to receive it for inspection. Please send it to SVB, who will forward it to us for examination in Sweden.
