The sensor works with both our very old Seiwa 701i via NMEA 0183 and the much more modern Furuno GP1870 via CANbus NMEA 2000. Theoretically, even parallel operation would be possible.

For the former, you obviously don't need the converter box, as the wind sensor sends NMEA 0183-MWV data directly. Here, you should make sure to configure the input on the display correctly (NMEA 0183 4800-N81-N) and check whether older plotters, in particular, can read the MWV data. We contacted Seiwa directly and received a positive response within just one day.

The price-performance ratio of this product is also pretty unbeatable. My brother has been using a NASA wind sensor on his boat for years, and the sensor has never been a problem.

Easy to install, good display on a Garmin chart plotter, the signal line is nice and thin and can also be laid in a device carrier

As a replacement for a Garmin aircraft, three times cheaper and to avoid replacing all the system. Perfect fit for NASA !!
