As a drive for SEATEC Aerotend 310 - unbeatable
I use the Spirit to power the aforementioned inflatable boat. The system—boat and motor—fits comfortably in a small car, is easy to assemble and disassemble, clean, and has sufficient battery capacity. The thrust is sufficient, but could be better. (More powerful models have become affordable these days.) I plan to purchase an additional (generic 48V LiFEPO4) battery to increase the range and to be able to charge it with a portable PV panel. Overall, after two years of use, I'm very satisfied with the motor.

Fantastic switch from a gas outboard
You wont believe how much of a leap forward this motor is, compared to a gas outboard. However, keep in mind that it can only replace a 3-4 hp gas engine. It cannot compete with anything more powerful.

- it is easy to handle it is not that light, but the weight comes in two light parts motor and battery. Consequently, I got rid of the crane I was using to put the gas engine on the dinghy.
- it is easy to start no more pulling cord and praying it will start
- no more gas canister(s) on the boat
- silent

Just great
I have a dinghy with 2.60 m. When the sea is calm you drive with 80-100 watts and have a power reserve of approx. 7 hours. at half load you still drive 3 hours.
Charge the battery with the on-board network.
Installation on dinghy very easy, low weight.
No problems with carburetor, Impella etc.

Poor quality & even poorer after sales.
I have an epropulsion Spirit 1.0 for my sailboat's tender. I would not buy another one. I chose this one over a Torqeedo because at the time it was quieter.
The plug on the cable that connects the motor to the battery, and the socket on the battery, are not fit for purpose. They are both made of flimsy plastic. The socket broke while I was leaning over the back of the boat to clear some seaweed that had fouled the prop. Fortunately while still under warranty but it took several months to get it repaired.
Shortly after we got the battery back the plug on the cable broke while I was tilting up the engine. By then it was out of warranty. The factory required the engine to be sent back to them for repair, I was quoted €341 (about US400) including tax for transport, parts, and repair, but they would only replace the socket with the same flimsy plastic.
Not worth it, because I don't expect the thing to last a season. The engine still works but the cable keeps falling out.
