The suction cup option offers a wide range of options for attaching the mount in the cockpit and under the sprayhood. As long as the surface is clean, it holds perfectly. I initially favored the clamp. However, since I travel on many different (charter) boats where there aren't always enough handles, I opted for the suction cup. I didn't want to take up the few holding options on the North Sea with a tablet mount.

Excellent support for tablets and smartphones

A bit pricey, but a great tablet and smartphone holder. I bought it for the cockpit of my sailboat. It's sturdy and very functional. The holder for the handrail is particularly easy to attach, and attaching and detaching the tablet holder is quick, easy, and secure.
