Fine cracks have formed in various corners of our boat. If you wanted to repair these using conventional means, you would have to sand the cracks ("make them wide"), fill them with gelcoat, sand and polish them. Of course, this would then look great. With this "crack repair" you can fill cracks in a reasonably good-looking way with much less effort - the thin paint can be applied easily with the fine brush and it creeps well into the cracks (at least at the 30°C temperature we had).

...see also my review of "Gelcoat Repair Putty" #62464. I used the material to cover larger scratches that I had filled, which I didn't like because of the color variation. The color matched perfectly. While it's not particularly complicated to apply, the product dries very quickly. Therefore, you have to sand carefully to achieve a smooth finish. This works quite well due to its hardness, but the filler color does show through again. Overall, the result is only mediocre. I haven't (yet) tried to repair the microcracks that also exist, which turn black over time due to the omnipresent dirt. The product is comparatively expensive.

Unfortunately very long dry periods

Unfortunately, after 16 hours I can still touch the product with my fingernail and press it in.
After shaking it for a good 2 minutes I dripped a tiny drop about the size of a pin onto a piece of cardboard.
The drying time is given as 30 minutes...
This applies to both RAL 9001 and 9010, I bought both to test and they both behave the same.

- YC Gelcoat Crack Repair ist eine Farbe die mit dem kleinen Pinsel am Flaschenkopf in sehr dünner Schicht auf die Schadensstelle aufgebracht wird. Nach der Trocknung erfolgt bei Bedarf eine weitere Lackschicht.
Wird der Lack in zu hoher Schicht aufgebracht, bildet sich zunächst an der Oberschicht eine Trocknungshaut. Entsprechend benötigt das darunter befindliche Material eine längere Trocknungszeit. In diesem Zeitraum kann natürlich die weiche Lackschicht beschädigt werden.
Dementsprechend ist es wichtig das Material umsichtig und präzise auf die beschädigte Stelle aufzutragen.
