Not usable for me without glue

The foam rubber band 30 x 10 mm makes a solid impression, but can not (so far) attach (as a seal for the engine compartment flap). Two attempts with double-sided quality adhesive tape (Tesa) failed miserably. I can only confirm the reference to the poor bondability. Only what is the solution ???

Seals that do not stick together can not be used on a Gfk boat. SVB claims to have no suitable adhesive. After trying five different glues and removing the seal without any residue, I gave it up
