Hey Carlos,
I'm having a similar problem after replacing my starter. I suspect it's due to the MDI box. In my case, the entire panel is off (including the hour meter), but the buttons work (I can start the engine without any problems).
When I removed and reinstalled the starter, I had to disconnect the wires from the MDI box. That’s when the problem started. I haven’t had time to take the box apart yet, but I’ll do that soon (maybe the fuse blew, too).
I’m following your issue here—maybe there’s another, much simpler solution.
