I removed the hot water hose and put a piece of hose into the boiler. Nothing ran out. Then I used a pump to build up pressure in the piece of hot water hose and it started to run out. A bit awkward, but it worked.

Thanks for the info. I can open the pressure relief valve with a lever, then the water should actually run out. I also remove the hot water hose so that no vacuum is created. I have also opened the taps. But it doesn't run out of the overflow. I sucked on the hose (it was drinking water), then the water started running. I might connect a hose to the hot water inlet and use an air pump to push the water out. But it's all very time-consuming, especially as I was told that the water drains like this...... I'll try the air pump on my next visit to the boat. I can then report back.

Thanks for the info, that will come to me too. But how do I empty the boiler for the winter? Even when I remove the hot water hose, nothing runs out of the pressure relief valve. It's not calcified, as I've only just replaced it and the tank is only a year old.
