Enclosed is the Selden extract. The winding direction can be on both sides. On my Bav. 34-2, the sail furls counterclockwise. Wind the line onto the drum with approx. 25 turns by hand on the profile. If UV protection is sewn onto the starboard side of the sail, the line should roll off the drum on the port side. In this case, wind the line clockwise. If the UV protection is on the port side, the line must be spooled counterclockwise.

The rubber seal contains plasticizers that degrade over the years. The manufacturer guarantees that the seal will retain its function and flexibility for 7 years. After this time, the seal can become hard and brittle and break due to the resulting vibrations and temperature differences. On our yacht of the same model and year of construction, it is not clear from the documentation whether it has ever been replaced. Because we bought it second-hand. That is why we pay particular attention to the seal. So far it looks like new. There are no small cracks or wear on the fastenings or the bead. But as it is, you can't predict when material fatigue will occur. I check the seal often and will replace it next year with the next antifouling. Last year, when our boat was ashore, the mechanic said it was still good. Although I don't really trust the Croatian mechanics. Conclusion: no risk no fun.
