Good morning,
My 14-year-old boat (RM13.50) is equipped with a Volvo D2-75 engine that has always run perfectly without any problems. I should mention that I always keep it running at 2,200 RPM, as recommended by the Volvo technician.
A short while ago, I tried revving it to the max and noticed that beyond that RPM, the revs don’t increase and it emits thick black smoke—even though it used to reach maximum RPM just fine.
What could be the problem?
Is it the turbocharger, as I’ve read in your forums?
Is the propeller fouled?
