I have the 8 mm halyard as a spinnaker halyard and also use it when raising and lowering the mast on the jib fork. Used it for the second time when lowering the mast in August 2025, the shackle opened under load at a mast angle of approximately 45 degrees. The mast crashed down onto the stern bracket, and the jib fork fell forward onto the deck. Damage to the stainless steel mast bracket, the mast track, the furling system, and the deck. Caution with this type of sheet shackle.
