I sanded the rusty keel and applied the rust protection directly. After it dried, I applied antifouling paint and put it in the water. Six months later, the steel keel looks just as good after being hauled out as it did when it was first put in. Excellent rust protection. I highly recommend this product.

I used Hempel Classic for the first time, applied it at the end of April, and by the beginning of October 2013 the yacht was covered in barnacles and mussels. It was particularly bad where the sun was shining. I cannot recommend it for sailing yachts that spend extended periods in port.
