I ordered this fan as a replacement for a defective SmartVent 200. It fit perfectly into the old deck vent and initially worked flawlessly... unfortunately, only for about two months. Then, even in bright sunshine, the motor would only start again with a gentle nudge. Once running, everything was fine. SVB promptly sent a replacement, which initially worked perfectly, even in the spring with the sun shining through the hall skylight. But this one also stopped working completely a few weeks later; not even a nudge would get it going. SVB sent another replacement, and this one is now working perfectly, but for how long? Honestly, I'm quite frustrated. The old 200 lasted 18(!) seasons. How is it possible that this one, which is identical except for the reversing switch, fails after such a short time? I don't blame SVB; they're not involved, but on the contrary, they provided exemplary service.
