Who is LEATHERMAN?

– Precision from Portland – the success story of LEATHERMAN –

The origin of a classic: what began as a simple idea led to the birth of the pliers-based multi-tool. During a trip across Europe in 1975, Tim Leatherman repeatedly encountered situations where a compact, versatile tool with pliers was missing. From these experiences, the vision for a new kind of multi-tool was born. Eight years later, together with his college friend Steve Berliner, he founded Leatherman Tool Group Inc in Portland, Oregon. Today, more than 500 employees work to manufacture premium-quality multi-tools and distribute them to around 80 countries worldwide. Production remains based in Portland to this day.
