Mud Palms are a set of plates that are bolted onto the crown of the anchor. They were developed and designed to help the anchor set faster in all sea bottoms, in particular soft mud bottoms. They create a "lift" to the crown of the anchor, causing the flukes to point more directly to the seabed, which helps the anchor sset faster. Delivery contents 2 metal plates, 8 screws and 8 nuts.

real improvement thanks to good SVB service

We have an ancient Guardian anchor from Fortress. When asked, SVB found out that the Mudpalms also fit this simpler Fortress series. However, the Mudpalms fit our anchor one size smaller than the Fortress anchors.

When we anchored it for the first time on mud, the anchor held straight away, otherwise we often had to make 2-3 attempts.

The assembly is a bit fiddly, the stainless steel screws supplied are imperial, as they are American. That's why normal keys didn't fit and with our small anchor there was not enough space for the normal pliers from the on-board tool. A smaller one worked later.

I will add a way to attach a solid triple line to the plates that now protrude at the front so that I can retrieve it backwards, which is missing from all Fortress anchors.

For me as a regatta sailor with a smaller boat, however, it is a good, light anchor that I can now rely on even more.
